Despite being only 23, and having only been a pro for a few years, JP Kelly has done a lot a short space of time, and has been tipped by many as one of the brightest poker talents to emerge in recent years.

He's one of a small handful of players who has proven his abilities on both the live and online stage. He started out at 18 in the cheap online games, and quickly grew in confidence: One year later he had won five UK Festival events, culminating in a £45k win in the £1,500 NLHE main event at Springfest 2006, Luton.

These live performances were turning heads, and saw JP offered, and accept, sponsorship from Blue Square Poker. This success was no flash in the pan, as from 2006-2008 JP notched up a series of cashes both in the UK and Vegas, including an impressive 9th in the $2,500 PLHE/PLO event at the 2008 wsop.

Known as ‘JP 5time' and ‘Mavfish' online, he has an impressive list of cashes and wins, in some of the biggest games around on both Stars and FT, among others.  He has come close to a FTOPS win on two occasions, placing 6th in a HORSE event, and just missing out in the PLO rebuy, finishing 2nd for $60k+.

In one night on Stars he won a big field $100 rebuy, and came 2nd in the 250Kgtd, for a combined $55k. He made up for the 2nd place soon after, winning the same tournament for $50k. He has the Sunday Million in his sights, managing a 5th place finish so far, paying over $55k, but with his record and determination, you wouldn't bet against him taking it down sometime soon!

If a string of online and live cashes wasn't enough, JP also plays 5/10 and 10/20 PLO and HE cash games, and amazingly it's here that he believes his biggest strength lies, regularly crushing the PLO games online.

For the future JP hopes to take his live success to the next level, and win a major; he plans to spend 2 months in Vegas focussing on the wsop.  2009 has started well for the young Englishman, both live and online: cashing in the Aussie Millions main event, and winning the UltimateBet $1k for $50k+.
