An early adopter of internet poker, Matt Broughton has been playing live and online for over ten years. Specialising in tournament poker, Matt has also carved a career for himself in poker journalism and tuition. Co-author of 2006's ‘How To Play and Win at Poker' (Carlton Publishing) Matt has also had various strategy articles published in magazines and papers world-wide. He was Editor of Flush Magazine from Oct 2007 to Dec 2008.

A member of the original expert presenting team on the award-winning cult show ‘Poker Night Live', Matt now passes on his knowledge as Chief Instructor at the Sky Poker Boot Camps, as well as appearing on the channel's various shows and hosting nightly show, ‘The Club'.

A sharp understanding of single-table tournament winning strategies has allowed Matt to make a profitable career of the format, with especial success in short-handed games. He has also honed his skills when it comes to teaching new, beginner and intermediate players.

"The key to teaching new players is being able to clearly communicate concepts without confusing or relying upon unfamiliar jargon. The key problem for new players is being bombarded with ALL the facets of tournament play at once: position, hand selection, bet-sizing, range funnelling... and so on. Through accumulated experience, I now have a much better understanding of the speed of development in new players, and can introduce new elements to students as and when they are ready to move on to the next level".
