Raj's brother taught him how to play limit hold'em, but he never really got into it, that all changed when he discovered no limit hold'em. The challenge and excitement of the game had him hooked instantly, he discovered a natural aptitude for the game, and never looked back.
Since then Raj has shot to fame, winning the Ladbrokes 2006 Poker Million V, netting him a cool $1.2m, quiet impressive for his first ever live play! This was no one trick wonder though, and he followed this up with semi final cashes in the Poker Million VI, and the PartyPoker World open, winning his heats in both.
Beyond this televised success, Raj also took a notable 3rd place in the Brighton GUKPT for over £33000. He has also enjoyed great success online, regularly winning a multitude of high stakes MTTs, including an impressive day where he won two $30k gtd tournaments back to back!
Raj believes that his ability to change and adapt his play has been an important factor in his success, along with being mathematical and knowing when to lay down a big hand. He feels these points are crucial to profitable MTT play, especially online.
Beyond tournament play, Raj also plays PLO cash games, enjoying the action and profiting from his mathematical knowledge of the game.
